Day 4- 1st, 2nd and 3rd Grade

Today we started the day with outside time! The campers got to play catch and tag! Soon after our director, Aster gave the campers a tour of the farm! She showed them our compost areas, rain water barrels and the greenhouse! The campers got to plant corn, weed and water the garden! Aster then reviewed the basic necessities of plants and talked about the importance of bees and pollination. She also talked about why plants need CO2 and water. We then went over the Water cycle and how it works. Aster ended with a quick review of worms and talked about how they are important for recycling! The kids became so knowledgeable about worms they received a certificate to become a worm protector!

We then had a yummy lunch of Mac & Cheese, chicken tenders and a vegetable saute from the garden! The saute had squash, zucchini, collard greens, and Swiss chard in it.

After lunch Nurse Kathy taught the campers basic first aid! Including taking blood pressure, heart rate, and how to clean wounds. They also made no bake cookies for snack!

For SPARK, we played counselor versus camper dodge ball! Right after, Aster talked about the respiratory system, cardiovascular system and the muscles inside our body. She emphasized what body systems/parts we use during exercise and what changes in each system during different activities.

Before we started writing our reflections, Olivia and Abbie read Click, Clack, Moo Cows that Type by Doreen Cronin and Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes.

We then ended with a brief reflection period!
