Third Day of Camp! 8th Graders

Today we got to start the day with a trip to the nearby orchard! Everyone got to pick blueberries, mulberries, and raspberries! We came back to the Center slightly dyed blue and purple! The kids loved picking the berries, which were later put into delicious fruit smoothies.

After a quick cool down, the kids got to play a game that combined Frisbee and football! It's a great way for the campers to have fun and exercise!

Aster then went over how energy travels through organisms, and the importance of eating high energy foods. She showed us how the energy traveled through a series of food webs and energy pyramids! By doing this Aster showed why vegetables and fruits give us more energy than meat products.

Two nurses from Community Health came and reviewed the previous health lessons. After reviewing My Plate and the importance of all of the food groups, the nurses discussed what makes up a healthy breakfast and a healthy snack!

We ended the day on a fun note! We made hats out of newspaper and leftover craft supplies. This showed how the kids can have fun and recycle at the same time! The kids had a blast and enjoyed being creative!
