Today we welcomed the seventh graders to FHC! To start the day we played a few name games to get to know the kids! After, the kids learned about honey bees from Jeff Dittemore! They learned about the types of bees, how a bee colony grows, and how bees produce honey.
In photography the campers learned the basic principles of photography such as the Rule-of-Thirds. After learning the basics, the kids went outside to take pictures, which are posted above! They enjoyed seeing the garden from behind the lens, and this encouraged them to look for smaller aspects hidden inside the garden.

After photography, the kids went outside for SPARK where they played kickball and dodge ball! By the end of the hour everyone was tired, but they all had fun!
Then the engineers from Major Tool & Machine came and did an introduction to 3-D modeling. They also showed models that the engineers have created in the past.
After the engineers we had a delicious lunch of spaghetti and garlic bread! Then Linda, our nutritionists came and taught the children the importance of eating all of the food groups everyday. For snack, she brought fruit kabobs!
Aster then taught the kids about what a plant needs to survive, and showed that some seeds can survive without soil. To prove this each camper was given a plastic bag, paper towel, a seed, and water. We created a similar environment to soil with the paper towel, and placed the seed within the folds of the paper towel and watered it. We then hung them on the window where they would have ample sunlight.
We ended the day with some quiet time for reflection!
